Might help to build this... Basically, a spot where all of the races and their descriptions can go, as well as technical terms. Not sure if you'd want a true Encyclopaedia or if you'd want more along the lines of a Wikipedia... (The difference would be whether only you could post or anyone could post...) That way, people can play a character in a species already posted without contradicting them. Would also prevent people from having to go back to find the equivalent of "warp 5" or "full impulse" as well...

I'm using the website for that sort of thing. I was going to do a wiki, but I couldn't get any working. they all crashed my computer or confused me to the point that I could no longer find my head with a flashlight and a map lol.

I have no experience with wiki's, sorry. I would help if I could. I could possibly do some flash stuff to make it look like "The Guide" a bit. Of course it would be tailored to your needs. I'm sure I could make an excellent encyclopedia. The problem is you'd probably have to e-mail me the new data when you got it for me to add in, then you'd have to re-upload the flash file. I might be able to create something that gets text from somewhere and then puts it in the guide. It would take a while, but would look wonderfully professional. Let me know if you're interested, I wouldn't want to work my ass off for nothing.

Maybe just a board with an index is all you really need. One thread per entry (make sure to sticky the index and link to every thread)...

Or my hyper idea. But if the other way is preferred it's easier for me. I wouldn't mind doing it, but I'm not dying to.

...
One (the index) is even more effort than what I'm already doing.
The other (VP designing whatever it is he's on about) would be far too inconvienient, and I like to do my own HTML. It's fun.
I think I'll just stick with the website. Thanks anyway.
And it isn't like it's hard to find all the info. Faction info is in factions. Ship info is in Ships. And class info is linked to in both - everywhere where the info would be relevant.

Species/species descriptons?
(This is actually the biggest one I mentioned...)
Maybe just a board where people describe any species that they create... then have a sticky with a list of all of them...

Did I not already say in some main thread that it's whatever you want., so long as it isn't too far-fetched and you wait for me to check it before RPing?

And what if someone likes someone else's idea? I am not saying that people can't create a species (with your approval) at any time, but it would: 1) Act as a checker -- it is easier to self-check (and be checked by you) for fantasy-realism when you have to give a description of the species in general 2) Allow for others to quickly reference what a species is like, so related NPCs could be introduced, or for handier interaction between characters 3) If someone else wants to be of the same species (again, adding realism as more than one of a race would probably be on a ship), this allows them to be without risking basic ideas of the species being contradicted

Hmm... compromise. I'll put up a board for people to post their more commonly used races. that works, doesn't it?

Hmm... compromise. I'll put up a board for people to post their more commonly used races. that works, doesn't it? I don't know that is has to necessarily be "commonly used". In a magical galaxy, there could be any number of a species, from several hundered (rare) to many, many million (common). It's hard to establish that (unless someone says that their character is of rare species). This would just allow us to not have to use humans (or personally created species) for all Myrean/Gerollan NPC...

As in, a race that they use enough to be bothered putting up.

As in, a race that they use enough to be bothered putting up. Correct. People wouldn't have to put it in if they didn't want to. Don't expect to see any other (characters of that species) than... I, personaly, intend to put up all races that I have a character for, and may even do a few that I don't (getting into more Dragon types, I love designing Dragon species...)

Agreed, Dragons are cool. Later on, I'll probably put my Elves up.

I think it is a good idea to set a standard for certain things. Just as an example, werewolves. Many people have different idea's about how they work, which often contradict. I've had this happen at OT. I think sometimes it is good to get the standard out there, just as a guidline.

It depends what sort of board you're going for. For example, I've always gone with the transforming at full moon idea. I like it. Also I dislike the idea of vampires being able to transform. I think that there should be a standard which the members get to have their say. You can't please everyone, but you can try,
